READING, WRITING, AND LITERACY

Katie's presentations on Reading, Writing, and Literacy are among her best, and often include selected access to her materials for all in attendance. These sessions feature Reading Strategies, Literature Circles, Differentiated Instruction, and so much more. Katie is available to present to both teachers and administrators, in half or full day sessions.

Literature Circles: Focusing on Differentiated Instruction
Teachers, Grades 4-12
This session will provide specific strategies and classroom examples for the development and integration of differentiated instructional strategies for literature circles. Katie will demonstrate strategies that include: reading logs, learning centers, and multimodal projects. In addition, she will share tools for literature circle assessment.

Read Me: Reading Strategies to Support Struggling Readers
Teachers, Grades 4-12
Help struggling students learn content and understand their world. This session will present research-based, classroom-tested strategies for engaging students in rigorous texts that are relevant to a discipline or content area. Participants will learn how to develop a classroom environment that supports reading for learning. Specific strategies support student comprehension of content-based texts.
