Hands-On Grammar: Multimodal Grammar & Language Mini Lessons, Grades 4-9 (2nd Edition) eBook

$29.99

By Katherine S. McKnight, Ph.D.

Digital Download - 188 pages

As a high school ELA teacher, I explored manipulatives for the teaching of grammar and looked to Howard Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences for inspiration. I tinkered with these models, introduced them in class, and I saw a big change in my students. Learning about apostrophes, subject/verb agreement, and proper nouns became exciting and tangible. During this period of discovery, my students and I began to understand that learning about grammar was actually learning how to manipulate language. They used this insight to become more effective writers, listeners, and speakers. I noticed that my students were better able to internalize what I was teaching, and I had far greater success than I did using worksheets and grammar books.

This book represents a collection of 40 lessons and activities that I developed in my very own classroom. The second edition is a revision of the original 2011 edition. New graphics and updated styling mean it’s more organized and easier to read! (Note: Print editions of this book are available on Amazon.)

“A great, affordable supplementary grammar resource that will add some spark to your lessons. I highly recommend this workbook for use in 4th-9th grade classrooms.”
